Highline Trail Rehabilitation  -  Derrick Trail Rehab and Realignments  -  Payson
Work continues on finishing the new trail segment cut be the excavator on the 2.3 mile Derrick Trail leg of the Derrick-Highline-Horton Creek loop. Open forest means minimal corridor clearing work. The work site and camping are on FR289 (Zane Grey Highway) east of Payson. SINGLE DAY REGISTRATIONS WELCOME.
  October 10 update: The bench has been cut for the 1,500 feet of new trail entrance and about half of that was finished by hand at the first event. Crews will finish the tread and shape drainage. To the extent possible ill continue the maintenance, rehab, and realignment work from the end point of this intital realignment section. Work on switchback wals continues.

Meals provided Saturday evening a Sunday morning. Work ends by 1 pm on Sunday. Developed campground with pit toilets, tables, fire rings and grills--all in our own exclusive gated community!.
